Think top brands and a twist on tradition when buying sporting gear at FULLSEND Ski and Outdoor
CANANDAIGUA — Zach Hallatt spent the last decade in the business of retail buying and selling outdoor gear and equipment. The career took Hallatt all over the country, including to Denver — where business, and outdoor sports, are booming.
The best in bikes, skis and skates fits Hallatt’s style because that’s how he likes to spend his time off the clock. Now, the Spencerport resident is back home in the Rochester and Finger Lakes area to launch the next phase of his career.
On Saturday, Hallatt and business partner Terry Pavlick will open FULLSEND Ski and Outdoor at 183 S. Main St. While Denver is hopping with people in outdoor sports, Hallatt said, so is the Finger Lakes — where he sees supply doesn’t match demand when it comes to outdoor gear and varieties of products.
FULLSEND Ski and Outdoor will sell clothing and equipment for “ski, wake and skate.” How about a Neversummer Rooster Wakeboard or a Switchblade 40 Mountain Blue Fade freeride board? Or a Scott Spark or Scott Genius bike?
“We want to have what’s trending, the best of the best,” said Hallatt. “If you can’t find what you want, we can try to find it for you.”
Hallatt said he wants to bring what he learned working in the industry across the United States to Canandaigua.
“The potential is very good to bring in the younger crowd,” he said. “To bring Park Avenue down here.”
The new store is at the site of a former smoke shop, tucked between Good Life Tea and Ravens Landing on South Main.
Hallatt and Pavlick, who is from the Corning area, talked about the work they put into the space with renovations. The store will include a lounge where people can enjoy complimentary wine or coffee, ask questions and get to know others who enjoy the sports they do. They envision the store being a hub to meet people and a jumping-off place for outdoor sporting activities around the area.
“We’ll have a place where people can come in and relax, learn about the products,” said Hallatt, who added he looks forward to promoting the products, getting to know his customers, and joining them in the outdoors.
